Elliot Employee Selected for IEC Emerging Leaders Program May 3, 2023

Tiler Cross, an Assistant Project Manager in the Davis H. Elliot Company’s Central Region, has been selected to participate in the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) Emerging Leaders Program in 2023.

According to the IEC’s website, “The IEC Emerging Leaders Program is a six-month leadership development experience for professionals in the electrical and systems contracting industry. Each year, six to ten individuals are selected to form a cohort class that participates in skills development workshops, networking opportunities, leadership exercises, and project development experiences.” Cross joins 9 other electrical professionals from across the country in the program.

“I would like to congratulate Tiler on this accomplishment and express my excitement for participating in this program,” Tim Robertson, Operations Manager, Division 63 said, “It is truly humbling for me to have the chance to work with such an incredible person.”

Cross joined Elliot in August 2018 as an Electrical Helper/Apprentice 1 before moving into the role he serves in now. He has been attending and training through IEC of the Bluegrass since late 2018 and graduated in 2022. During his time, he participated in the 2022 IEC Apprentice of the Year Competition at the 2022 IEC SPARK: Power Tomorrow conference in Louisville, KY.

The Davis H. Elliot Company is proud of Tiler Cross’ accomplishment and excited about the opportunity in front of him.

About IEC:

Founded in 1957 as the Associated Independent Electrical Contractors of America, the primary goal of the original association was to consider and deal with, by all lawful means, common problems of management, distribution, employment, and financial functions of the electrical construction industry; to foster cooperation in advancing the common purposes of its members; and to promote activities that enabled the industry to advance with the greatest economy and efficiency.

The association’s first offices were located in Texas, and in 1962, IEC was granted a certificate of incorporation. IEC convinced the U.S. Department of Labor to adopt national pattern standards of Apprenticeship and Training, and for the first time, registered apprenticeship was recognized across the country for those adopting the “Open Shop” or “Merit Shop” philosophy.

IEC has now grown into an influential 52-chapter association representing more than 3,600 company members and nearly 80,000 electrical workers. IEC has expanded its alliance to include nearly 14,000 apprentices who are in the process of learning to become prominent and productive electricians.

The association will continue to expand its services to members and serve as a strong voice for independent electrical and systems contractors on the many issues that affect the industry.

About IEC of the Bluegrass:

IEC of the Bluegrass, Inc., is a non-profit organization covering 86 of the 120 Kentucky counties from Pikeville to Paducah. IEC works to develop, maintain, and improve the quality of electrical construction at all levels in order to provide to the public the benefits of electrical contracting services, based on management information and construction techniques to meet and exceed the highest level of standards.

IEC is approved to provide the Kentucky and Ohio electrical licensing continuing education training for contractors, master electricians and journeymen.  IEC also provides a four year apprenticeship program approved by the US Department of Labor and the Kentucky Apprenticeship Council.
