Lexington, KY – The Davis H. Elliot Company‘s Central Region was honored by the Kentucky Association of Highway Contractors (KAHC) with its safety award. The KAHC gives this award annually to the company or organization that achieves the best safety record among highway construction contractors in Kentucky. Elliot’s Division 51 team, which is tasked with the type of work performed within the KAHCs area of influence, completed 124,170 man-hours worth of work in 2022 while earning this award.
“Highways can be some of the most dangerous places to work, so I could not be more proud of the time and effort spent building our safety culture and allowing us to be recognized with this award,” stated Estill Smith, Divison 51 Operations Manager. He credits the persistent coaching and training, dedication to protecting each other, and upper-level leadership’s focus on safety with helping his team meet and exceed their safety goals. “Servant Leadership, from the top to the bottom of our company allows us to be leaders in safety within this industry,” Smith added.
Elliot is proud of our team’s safety performance and is excited to recognize Division 51 for this outstanding achievement.
About Kentucky Association of Highway Contractors (KAHC)
The Kentucky Association of Highway Contractors (KAHC) was organized as a nonprofit corporation in 1921 to promote, preserve, and protect the highway construction industry in Kentucky. The industry has changed since that time, but the association’s purpose still holds true. Our membership consists of regular contractor members (contractors pre-qualified with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to perform construction projects) and associate members (manufacturers and dealers of construction materials and equipment and persons or firms engaged in service to or for members and not involved in actual construction). Admission to membership is by majority vote of the Board of Directors.
