Knoxville, TN – The Davis H. Elliot Company recently completed 11 miles of underground trenching, fiber installation, and technological upgrades along I-40 in Knoxville, TN. The project, which began in the Spring of 2020, was completed in the third quarter of 2022 and was part of the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s ITS SmartWay Expansion.
Along with the trenching and fiber that took place, the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) project also included the installation of two Dynamic Messaging Signs (DMS) spanning the width of I-40E & W as well as radar detectors, cameras and other technology, which will assist with traffic management in the busy corridor.
Steve Vance served as the Project Manager for Elliot alongside General Foreman Lindell Gregory and Lead Foreman Quincy Raines.
“This was our first big ITS project in the state of Tennessee, and thanks to the exceptional work by everyone on this project, we have been able to open more doors and continue serving our customers in this area with our services,” said Steve Vance.
