We Own Our Safety
Elliot is proud to be an employee-owned company, and we believe this ownership mindset extends to all aspects of our operations – including safety. We understand our employees are our most valuable asset, and we’re committed to providing them with a safe and healthy work environment. As an employee-owned company, we believe every team member has a stake in our success, and that includes taking responsibility for our safety. We encourage open communication and active participation in safety protocols, and our employees are empowered to identify and report potential hazards. By fostering a culture of ownership, we’re able to ensure everyone in our company is invested in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.

Corporate Led, Regionally focused
Elliot is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for all for all of our employee-owners. For companies with a large operating footprint and thousands of employees, this can be a challenge. In order to ensure we are providing every employee-owner with the most support possible, we have instituted a corporate-led, regionally-focused safety program.
MoreCulture of Incident Prevention
Incident prevention is a cornerstone of the safety culture at Elliot. We prioritize safety and minimizing risk at every stage of our operations, and believe prevention is always better than reaction. Our employee-owners are trained to identify potential hazards and take appropriate measures to mitigate them. We believe our proactive approach to incident prevention is essential not only to the well-being of our employees, but also to the success of our business. By prioritizing safety, we ensure our operations are efficient, reliable, and sustainable for long-term relationships with our customers.

Training
Elliot strives to provide best-in-class training opportunities to develop our employee-owners as both professionals and people. Investing in our employees through various styles of training allows every member of our team to reach their full potential and provide excellent service to our customers.
MoreApprenticeship
Elliot takes immense pride in our commitment to fostering talent and investing in the growth of our workforce. Our comprehensive Apprenticeship Program is a testament to our dedication to professional development and industry-leading innovation. With several different state or federally-registered apprenticeship programs, including overhead, underground, and lighting technology, we continuously strive to push the boundaries of excellence in our field. Notably, we are proud to be the first in the nation to offer an Electric Vehicle Charging Apprenticeship, reflecting our forward-thinking approach and dedication to the emerging clean energy and sustainable technology industry.
MoreSIF PREVENTION INITIATIVE
As part of Elliot’s ongoing commitment to safety, we created and implemented the
Significant Injury & Fatality (SIF) initiative. A SIF is defined as an event which would lead
to a life changing, life altering, or life ending result.
This initiative prioritizes studying SIF-Potential (SIF-P) events – which are incidents that have the potential to result in significant injury or fatality. By studying these events, we’re able to identify patterns and trends, and develop targeted strategies to address potential hazards. We believe a proactive approach to safety is the key to preventing incidents, and the SIF initiative is just one of the many ways we are working to keep our employee-owners safe on the job.

OSHA PARTNERSHIP
Elliot is a proud member of the OSHA Electrical Transmission & Distribution Partnership. As a member of this partnership, Elliot is committed to following best practices and implementing the highest safety standards in our operations. We work closely with OSHA to identify potential hazards, develop strategies to mitigate risks, and ensuring employees receive the training and education they need to stay safe on the job. Our membership with the OSHA ET&D Partnership allows us to share our own insights and experiences to help improve safety across the entire industry while collaborating with other industry professionals to continuously strengthen the quality of safety and training nationwide.
Human Performance
The principles of Human Performance are central to Elliot’s Safety & Training program and is included within our company’s core values. We believe understanding and addressing the human element in our operations optimizes performance, mitigates risks, and enhances safety outcomes. Our program focuses on fostering a proactive mindset, empowering employees to make informed decisions, and continuously improving their skills through targeted training. Our aim is to create a workplace where everyone feels empowered to prioritize safety, contributing to a safer and more productive environment for all.
The 5 principles of Human Performance include:
Regardless of our intentions and plans, all humans make mistakes/errors, and we fall short of achieving perfection.
At the beginning of each New Year, it is difficult to write the correct date. This situation occurs each year and we are likely to fall into the trap. Because we recognize the likelihood of this error we can practice and prevent it from occurring.
Culture is the beliefs, values, and accepted behaviors practiced in our Company. Our personal behavior is influenced directly by culture. The behavior of our leaders, supervisors and co-workers directly impact us and influences the behavior we apply each day.
Our team will achieve the best results when we examine and improve our own behaviors, encourage others to exert accepted behaviors, and continuously reinforce the behaviors accepted by our Company.
We can avoid errors in two ways. We can learn from the mistakes made in the past, and we can take those lessons and anticipate errors in the future before they happen, applying the tools in Human Performance
